Should I track cardio and strength workouts separately?

Yes it is usually better to track cardio and strength workouts separately because they have different goals and progress markers.

I would track them separately but keep both records in the same workout log

Strength training is mainly about things like weight reps sets and progressive overload

Cardio is more about duration distance pace speed and endurance.

Yes but you do not need two completely different apps

You can keep one workout journal and create separate sections for strength and cardio

For strength write down the exercise weight sets and reps

For cardio write down the activity duration distance pace and effort

The important thing is having enough information to compare your current performance with your previous workouts.

I would definitely track them separately if you care about measurable progress

For example you might increase your squat from one weight to another over several weeks

Your running progress might show up as completing the same distance at a faster pace

Those are completely different types of progress so separate tracking makes sense.

Yes and it can help with recovery too

If you record your strength sessions and cardio sessions separately you can see how frequently you are training.

Yes I would separate them if you are trying to improve both strength and endurance

Your strength progress might involve heavier weights or more reps

Your endurance progress might involve longer sessions faster speeds or better recovery

Keeping separate records lets you see both improvements clearly.

If your main goal is strength compare the weights you can handle every few weeks Increasing your working weights while maintaining proper technique is a good indicator.

Your program may be working if you notice better performance in everyday activities as well For example climbing stairs carrying groceries or staying active may feel easier.

Yes and I find it easier to review progress this way

When looking at strength records you can quickly see whether your main lifts are improving

When looking at cardio records you can see changes in distance pace duration or endurance

This makes your workout history much more useful.

You can absolutely track both in one fitness app

Just make sure strength and cardio are recorded as different workout types

This allows you to review each category separately while still seeing your total activity

The best tracking system is the one you will actually use consistently.
