It’s been 2 weeks since I started going to the gym and my PT set my daily macros goal of 120g carbs 160g protein and 53g of fats 1600 cals and so far I have shed around 1.5kgs. My problem and what stressed me out daily is that I can’t hit my protein without exceeding fats but i was able to keep under 1600 cals daily. Btw, my PT stopped me from eating pork and beef so I my main protein source are fish, chicken breast, tofu, eggs and majority of these are high in fats. Will I still lose weight even if I can’t hit my macros? Any tips to hit my protein? I’m from PH btw. TIA!
From everything I’ve read and experienced myself, if you’re in a calorie deficit, you will lose weight. If you’re in a calorie deficit and eating roughly .8-1 g of protein for every pound of your goal body weight, you will lose weight and maintain or grow muscle. The rest of it doesn’t really matter that much in my experience as long as you’re not avoiding carbs or fats entirely.
You can eat 1500 calories of Nutella and still lose weight. The protein is to help keep/build muscle and keep you more satiated.
Haha alright. I’ll grab my jar now. Just perfect for pms craving. TY!
Fun fact: Nutella is actually low in glycemic index… this means it keeps you full for a long time. I find that a Nutella sandwich works the same as a regular sandwich for my hunger… I just need to weigh it because it’s too easy to wat too much without realizing it.
You will still lose weight regardless of imperfect macros. The calories are the most important number. Not sure why some trainers have such a hate for pork, I eat lean pork tenderloin with the fat trimmed and it’s similar to chicken with the macros. I would try to add some Greek yogurt or low fat cottage cheese if you can. I supplement with protein shakes as well because you can get a decent amount of protein with little fat/carbs. You can try to separate the yolks from the eggs and do egg whites with maybe one yolk with the rest being egg whites. Most of the fat is in the yolk.
I love eating pork meat too but PT said it is high in fats. I’ll try the tip with eggs. Thank you!!
I’ve started adding more healthy fats and my hormonal health has improved.
Have you noticed any drop in strength when you lower the carbs this much?
Do you adjust your calories on rest days or keep them the same?
