Liver Protection on Oral Steroids: Glutathione and BPC

Bodybuilders and performance athletes are also fond of oral anabolic steroids, as they are easy to use and have rapid effects on strength and mass. Some of the compounds that are commonly used in the cutting and bulking cycles are like Anavar (Oxandrolone), Winstrol (Stanozolol), Dianabol, Superdrol, etc. But unlike injectables that stress the liver, oral steroids damage the organ. But if the beta blocker isn’t managed right, this can result in balanced liver enzymes, inflammation and ultimate long-term damage.

Liver protection is needed and that’s were. Real promise for supporting liver health have been two compounds: Glutathione, the master body antioxidant and BPC 17 which is a healing peptide with systemic regenerative effects. The main purpose of this article is to explain how oral steroids affect liver function, and how these two supplements can help mitigate that risk.

Alkylation is required to get the steroids to pass the digestive tract and make it into the blood stream; and they are oral steroids with an alkyl group on the 17 th carbon (typically 17 alpha alkylated). Because they have to be first passed through the liver, which first metabolises them, this chemical modification makes them effective, but also toxic to the liver. These compounds are broken down by the liver as it is in the role of dealing with the oxidative stress that is produced.

short cycle of steroid can raise liver enzymes, and longer use of cycle can cause the severe problems like liver swelling, cholestasis, or liver damage. That’s why liver’s protection is very critical.

Glutathione is a naturally occurring tripeptide made up of three amino acids — cysteine, glycine and glutamic acid. Additionally, it assumes an important function in the body’s antioxidant defense and is present to an extreme level in the liver and helps neutralize toxins and cell repair.

Your liver is working overtime when you are on an oral steroid cycle. During this process unstable molecules are generated called free radicals. Certain free radicals are fought by glutathione and they assist in protecting liver cells from oxidative damage and also aid in detoxing harmful products.

High oxidative stress dropped the level of glutathione, and because of this the liver becomes more defenseless. Taking Supplements with glutathione can help bring back the stability and defend liver muscle.
