I often see people on this sub asking about if and how they can come off TRT. And I have also seen a lot of fear mongering such as, “you will never return to your natural levels after XXX years on TRT”, “PCT is hell, it will take 12 months to fully recover”, etc., so I thought I would post my experience.

I started TRT around 2 years ago, aged 37. At the time, I was struggling with post-concussion syndrome and had very, very shitty sleep, constant headaches, etc., which prompted me to get various bloodwork done. Turns out that my free test was quite low – low enough to get a prescription for TRT in Japan, despite not having any typical “low-T symptoms” such as a lack of sex drive, poor gym performance, etc.

Bloodwork before starting: LH: 5.6, FSH: 2.0, Test: 451, Free test: 7.1 (reference range: 6.5 – 17.7)

My protocol for nearly two years was 125mg test enanthate per week (split into two injections per week for the majority of that time). No AI. No HCG.

Bloodwork on TRT: LH: -, Test: 800~, Free test: 25-30, E2: 40-50

Recently, I made the decision to get off TRT because: a) my post-concussion symptoms have improved and I am sleeping normally again; b) to make it easier to travel/live in my home country (no chance of getting TRT in Australia); c) mainly to see if I could recover my natural levels, as I don’t want to be dependent on TRT for life (yet). Note that my decision to get off was not because of any “negatives” of TRT; my experience was generally positive.

For 4 weeks prior to last shot: HCG at 250iu x 3 a week in addition to my usual test injections
